Scholarships
General Scholarship Information
- Pay close attention to deadlines.
- Bring your paper scholarship applications to the guidance office when completed. We will add a transcript and mail it for you as a complete package.
- If the scholarship requires a letter of recommendation, give the person you ask to write the letter plenty of time to get it written.
- Never pay anyone for scholarship searches. There are many people and companies who try to make money off of parents/students who are trying to find scholarships. The guidance office has many resources for scholarships.
- When scholarships ask for a list of activities, be creative. You can include youth groups or other activities even if they are not school-related.
- If you know what colleges you are considering, speak to the admissions counselors at each school to see what scholarships they may have available.

James and Andrew Johnson Family Scholarship
Please see this attachment for information on a scholarship opportunity for students planning to attend OSU. This scholarship was created by a Wheelersburg graduate and it is his hope that the scholarship will go to a Wheelersburg graduate. There is no application to complete for this scholarship. Once you are accepted to OSU, your info will be reviewed and if you are eligible, they will notify you.
UCAN Wheelersburg Excellence Scholarship
The Scioto Foundation’s University College Access Network or UCAN was launched in 2008. It is a program that helps youth plan, prepare, and pay for college through strong partnerships with all Scioto County, Ohio schools, the South-Central Ohio ESC, local businesses, and donors. You may also contact the school or the Foundation for more information.

Ajay Stiles Memorial Scholarship
The Tammy Hamilton Miller Scioto Smiles Scholarship is for students interested in pursuing a career in dental hygiene. The deadline to apply is March 21, 2025. See the attachment for more information.
Please see the following criteria for the Masons of Ohio Grand Lodge Scholarship. Attached is the application.
- Three $1,500 scholarships will be awarded in each of Ohio’s 25 Masonic Districts.
- Eligible applicants must be graduating high school seniors in 2025.
- Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient for educational expenses.
- Applicants must complete the 2024-25 FAFSA and include their Student Aid Index (SAI) on the application. If the SAI is unknown, the application should still be submitted.
- Application deadline: March 1, 2025. Applications must be postmarked or emailed by this date to be considered.
- Only scholarship recipients will be notified. Non-recipients will not receive notification.
- Recipients will be notified by May 1, 2025.

Duduit/Sally Harrison/Duncan Harrison/Hanshaw Scholarship Application
Please see the description and application for The Tyler Lang | "Don't Waste A Day" Scholarship. This is a new scholarship opportunity for our student athletes to take advantage of. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 28, 2025.
Attached is the application for the Western Sun Scholarship. Please turn the completed application in by Tuesday, March 25th.

Attached is the Carl Montavon Memorial Scholarship application. Deadline to apply is April 25th, 2025.
The Portsmouth Area Mother’s Milk Program (P.A.M.M.P.) will be awarding a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each for eligible seniors. Please see the application attached for criteria. The completed application must be postmarked and mailed by April 25th.
Attached is the Blake Rodgers Power Line Mechanic Scholarship. This scholarship is available to any post-secondary student who enrolls and successfully completes the SCCTC's Adult Education Power Line Mechanic Program. Students may reside in the following counties: Scioto, Pike, Jackson, and Lawrence counties. The Aurora Lodge No. 48 Free and Accepted Masons Scholarship application is attached. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be planning to attend Shawnee State University in the fall. Deadline to apply is May 22, 2025.
The Mari Grace Smith Memorial Scholarship was just created and the due date is next Friday, May 2nd.
